You're not failing. You're just parenting.

Perfected Chaos is a space for real parents — the ones running on cold tea, good intentions and the occasional mini breakdown when nobody is looking.
No perfect families here. Just honest ones!
We're Jodie and Rob. We’ve been together forever, have four children aged between five and sixteen, and with a combined background in teaching and sports coaching (i.e working with children) we still regularly feel that we have absolutely no idea what we're doing — which is precisely why we started this.
We wanted somewhere that we could talk honestly about the hard stuff, and we built this place for every parent who feels the need for connection over correction!
We want this to be a safe space for both Moms* and Dads, and will share both perspectives and opinions. If you've ever felt like you're absolutely nailing this parenting thing at 9am and completely falling apart by half ten — you are not alone. If you’ve ever had a five-year-old commandeer the car stereo with Disney music for an entire road trip, we can relate. If you constantly remind your kids that there will be no snacking before dinner time but sneakily scoff a biscuit in the kitchen when nobody is looking; same here.
Perfected Chaos is the best way we can describe life as parents; some days are spent making memories together, hitting cute milestones or sharing achievements…the other half of the time you’re trying to find somewhere to hide, feeling sleep deprived, on edge and suffering constant decision fatigue. Being a parent means being in an endless cycle of emotions (yours and theirs), tasks, worries and character building (again, yours and theirs!).
We want to share our actual experiences and thoughts, not give expertly curated advice. Just like trying to find the perfect work/life balance, parenting comes with trials and tribulations and sometimes you’re on top of the world, sometimes you feel like the world is on your shoulders. Family life isn’t always pretty and by accepting that you are not going to enjoy every second of it all (especially when there are SO MANY seconds of awake time!), you can hopefully relax in to the natural rhythm of your own family madness.
*Notes
We are from the West Midlands and we prefer to use Mom rather than Mum.
We have decided not to share our children’s actual names to protect their identities/save them from embarrassment and/or make their own decisions on when and what to share. When we talk about them we’ll use nicknames. Any personal photos we show will not show their faces, or they won’t be currently recognisable. We talk to them a lot about online safety and so we have to take our own points on this matter, practise what we preach and all that.

COMING SOON!
Our Shop
Our blog is where we write about all of it — parenting must haves and fails, screen time, the life skills that tend to fall through the gaps and the stuff we wish someone had told us earlier. We home educate our kids and will talk a lot about that too as that is a huge part of our lives.
Our shop has our book, some merch and will link HomeGrownSkills, an educational platform we are creating, to help the whole family. Critical thinking, financial literacy, emotional resilience, practical independence and lots more!
Our podcast is coming. We'll be talking about everything from screen time to sleep, home education to mental health — honest, a little chaotic, and hopefully useful. We'd also love to hear your stories.
